Anthony
Rubeira, DPT, Clinic Director
Anthony obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology from Quinnipiac
University (Hamden, CT) and his Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy
from Creighton University (Omaha, NE). Anthony and his wife, Laurie,
were the first two doctorally trained physical therapists in Connecticut
history. Prior to relocating to New Bern in 2006, Anthony was the
Director of Physical Therapy Services for Griffin Hospital’s
Occupational Medicine Center (Shelton, CT) and was also an Assistant
Professor at Quinnipiac University where he taught Biology, Cell
Physiology, and Anatomy and Physiology courses. Anthony’s
continuing education experience includes Maitland, Mulligan, and
McKenzie courses as well as courses dealing with vestibular rehabilitation
and the orthopedic management of the spine, shoulder, hip, knee,
and ankle/foot complex. He is a major advocate of evidence based
physical therapy practice and is dedicated to achieving excellent
patient outcomes via patient education and the application of the
most effective treatment strategies. Anthony is an enthusiastic
New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He regularly participates
in cardiovascular and resistance training and has a passion for
scuba diving. The greatest joys in his life come from his wonderful
wife and two beautiful daughters. |

| Brian
Mara, MPT
Brian obtained his undergraduate degree in Physical Education
from California State University , Chico and his Masters degree
in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California.
His continuing education includes training for Vestibular, Shoulders,
Back, and Neck disorders. He also participated in the Matheson Industrial
Rehab Professional Residency Program. Brian has 12+ years of extensive
Physical Therapy experience and is highly experienced in applying
quality orthopedic care to a wide variety of patients. Brian is
enthusiastic about basketball and general fitness. When away from
the clinic he enjoys camping as well as fresh and saltwater fishing.

Sarah
Teel, MPT
Sarah obtained her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from
the University of Scranton, PA. She relocated to the New Bern area
in May 2008, from the Oregon coast. She has a strong interest in
women’s health therapy, lymphedema, and generalized orthopedic
related dysfunctions. Sarah enjoys participating and watching sports
such as football, boxing, and outrigging. When she lived in Oregon,
she volunteered her time to the local high school football team
for sports medicine including on-field assessments and injury treatment.

Kerry
Rice, PTA
Kerry relocated to New Bern, NC from the Northern Virginia area
in 2005. She is a Physical Therapist Assistant licensed in both
North Carolina and Virginia. She graduated from George Mason University
in 1975 with a B.A. in History and later from Northern Virginia
Community College in 1993 with an A.A.S. in Physical Therapy (Assistant)
to affect a career change. Kerry was an aerobics exercise instructor
for the town of Vienna, Virginia for eight years and assisted with
the aerobics classes at James Madison High School. After earning
her PTA degree, she worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic in
Centreville, Virginia for 12 years. During this period, she instructed
and mentored Northern Virginia Community College PTA students in
the clinical environment. She instructed young athletes in community
soccer clinics and participated in career fairs for a local high
school. In March, 2004, Kerry served on the medical team supporting
the World Figure Skating Championships in Washington, D.C.

Steven
Elliott, PTA
Steven is the newest member of the Peak Performance staff. He obtained
his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Martin Community College.
He is a life-long resident of Eastern North Carolina. Prior to becoming
a PTA, Steven worked with his father in the turf grass business,
charter fishing and the heating and air industry. He is a compassionate
person who is dedicated to the profession of physical therapy and
the welfare of his patients. His hobbies include weight training,
fishing, scuba diving, and any active sport on land or in the water.

Brooks Brady, DPT, ATC
Brooks obtained her undergraduate degree specializing in Athletic
Training from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia
in 2001. She worked in the field for several years before deciding
to go back and pursue her Doctorate in physical therapy, which
she received in 2009 from Shenandoah University in Winchester,
Virginia. Brooks and her family recently relocated to New Bern
from Harrisonburg, Virginia and are happy to be back in North Carolina.
Brooks is especially interested in orthopedics, particularly athletic
based injuries and wound care. She is currently pursuing her Orthopaedic
Specialist Certification (OCS) from the American Physical Therapy
Association after completing an orthopaedic manual physical therapy
series at the University of Virginia. Brooks, her husband, and
son enjoy outdoor activities and are happy to be calling New Bern
home

Angela
Phillippe, PT
Angela graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Physical
Therapy from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She began
her career in the Roanoke, Virginia area and worked in a variety
of settings including inpatient care in a regional referral hospital/Level
One Trauma Center. She also worked in a skilled nursing facility,
home health care, and was Department Director at a hospital-based
PT clinic with an extensive caseload of patients with work-related
injuries. Angela was commissioned into the United States Navy Reserve,
and in 2004 was called to active duty. She served as a Physical
Therapist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, then was reassigned
to Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. On release from active duty in 2006,
Angela joined the Havelock Peak Performance clinic. Now retired
from the Navy, Angela enjoys competing in the equestrian sport of
dressage and walking on the beach with her dogs and husband Freddie.

Sarah
Hall, DPT
Sarah earned her undergraduate degree from NC State in 2003. She
earned her MPT and DPT from UNC-CH in 2005/2007. Her background
includes acute care and outpatient orthopedics. She has worked with
patients from 2 wks old up to 100 yrs old. She also enjoys working
with aquatic therapy. She is the main aquatic therapist for the
New Bern and Havelock clinics. Some of her continuing education
has included: Strain-Counterstrain, total motion release, and aquatic
therapy. In her free time, she enjoys landscaping and spending time
with her husband and 2 cats.

Maegan Barry, DPT
Graduated from Chowan University with a B.S. in Biology-Allied Health
in 2006. Began a dual-program for Athletic Training and Physical
Therapy in 2006 at Shenandoah University, graduated in 2010 with
a DPT and MSAT. Clinical experiences include: skilled nursing facilities,
in-patient rehab on a spinal cord unit, and outpatient orthopedics.
Have additional background in the sports area with experience at
the university and high school level. Enjoy the beach and spending
time with family and friends during my free time.

| Garth
Espigh, MPT, Clinic Director
After graduating from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Kinesiology, Garth earned his Masters degree in Physical
Therapy from St. Ambrose University of Davenport, Iowa. He has clinical
experience treating High School and College athletes and is well
versed in application of manual therapy techniques for the treatment
of general orthopedic conditions. He also has an interest in providing
sports therapy support at local high school events. Garth's outside
interests range across a variety of athletic activities to include
baseball, softball, weight training and he is an avid fan of Penn
State football and UNC basketball.

Holly Spruill, MPT
Holly Spruill graduated from
UNC Chapel Hill in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary
Studies. She earned her Master’s in Physical Therapy in
2006 at East Carolina University. Holly has worked in a variety
of physical
therapy settings including: acute care, inpatient rehabilitation,
skilled nursing, and out-patient rehabilitation. Outside of work,
she enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing with
her two dogs (Ozzy and Zeke), traveling to different countries,
and running.

Katherine Jones, PTA
Katherine Jones graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelors
of Science in Exercises Physiology in 2004. She earned her Physical
Therapist Assistant degree from Central Piedmont Community College
in Charlotte, NC. Katherine has worked in a variety of settings
including: Acute Care, Skilled Nursing, Inpatient and Outpatient
Rehabilitation. Katherine is an avid football fan, being true to
her Charlotte roots, loves her Carolina Panthers. Outside of work
she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, daughter
and her puppy Rocky.

Andy
Klatt, MPT Clinic Director
After graduating from Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science,
Andy earned a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career has been focused in the outpatient orthopedic
setting with continuing education in manual therapy, spinal disorders, Kinesio
Taping, Strain-Counterstrain, Total Motion Release, and wound care. His research
topic while at UNC was "The Effects of Training on Reliability of Pelvic
Landmark Palpation Using a Pelvic Model". When not dedicating himself to
the wellbeing of patients, Andy enjoys salt water fishing, travel, sports, and
boating with his wife and two children.

Lanelle
Emerson, MS, ATC, PES
Jacksonville Clinic Operations Manager
Lanelle received her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic
Training from Azusa Pacific University and her Master’s degree
in Sports Health Care from Arizona School of Health Sciences. She
has worked in High School and Collegiate settings, and has worked
with a wide spectrum of athletes in injury prevention, rehabilitation
and performance enhancement. Lanelle has worked extensively with
Marines in return to readiness, specifically for the PFT and CFT.
She has also completed the certification courses for the TRX suspension
training system. Lanelle is an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoys
reading and traveling, but mostly she enjoys spending time with her
husband and two boys. |

Jenna
Wickham, DPT
Jenna obtained her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Penn State University
(University Park, PA) in 2005 and her Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from
Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA) in 2009. She began her Physical Therapy
career at Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania in her hometown of Harrisburg,
PA before relocating to Jacksonville, NC. Jenna joined the Peak Performance team
in April 2010 and is enjoying life in Coastal Carolina with her fiancé and
two bulldogs. Jenna’s clinical experiences include two outpatient orthopedic
rotations, acute care, and inpatient rehabilitation. Jenna enjoys treating general
orthopedic injuries and has attended clinical education courses on neural mobilization,
manual treatment of the lumbar spine, and cervical manipulation. Her future goal
is to become a certified orthopedic specialist. Jenna is an avid Penn State football
fan and Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fanatic. Jenna also spends her time
at the beach, working out, or spending time with family and friends. |

Tim
Biven, PTA
Timothy earned his Associate in Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant
from Arapahoe Community College in 2009. He joined the staff at Peak Performance
in February 2008 as a PT Technician. Prior to becoming employed at Peak, he faithfully
served in his country for 7.5 years in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman.
He received his formal training in the practice of physical therapy while stationed
at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing
basketball, making people smile, and traveling. |

Jeremiah Biehl, DPT
Jeremiah graduated in 2011 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from
the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences in Saint Augustine,
Florida. Prior to attending graduate school, Jeremiah earned a Bachelor
of Science from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.
Jeremiah has a strong background in exercise and manual therapy,
and is interested in the biomechanics of the lower extremity and
cervical spine. Besides being driven by the desire to promote the
profession of physical therapy, Jeremiah also has outside interests,
including traveling, working with his hands, and spending time on
the ocean.

Michelle Miller, DPT
Michelle earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical
College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011.
Prior to earning her DPT she graduated with an undergraduate
degree in Exercise, Sport and Health Education with a concentration
in Sports Medicine from Radford University in 2008. Prior to
relocating to Hubert, North Carolina, Michelle had clinical experience
working in outpatient clinics including Fort Lee’s Kenner
Army Clinic in Petersburg, VA, a hospital based outpatient clinic
in Fredericksburg, VA and a private practice clinic in Chester,
VA. Currently, she plans on pursuing continuing education courses
to expand her knowledge within manual therapy and sport rehab.
Michelle enjoys training for marathons, ½ marathons, playing
with her puppy, Bear, travelling, and spending time with her
husband and family.

Sarah Peck, DPT
Sarah is a licensed Physical Therapist in both North Carolina and
Minnesota. She received both her undergraduate degree in Health
Science and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Loma
Linda University. Sarah joined the Peak Performance staff November
2011. Prior to that she was a commissioned Naval Officer for
3 years in Jacksonville, Florida. Her time spent in the Navy
allowed for an invaluable experience. Providing growth as a leader
and the opportunity to work with our countries warriors. She
was able to work with all branches of the DoD to help return
them to their highest level of function. While in the active
duty, Sarah was able to take an advance manual course at Baylor
University. She has a strong background in Maitland, Mulligan
and McKenzie methodology. Sarah’s outside interests include
spending time with her husband and daughter, going to the beach,
traveling, fitness, cooking and nutrition. As well as continuing
to serve in the Navy Reserve.

Ashtin Swaim, DPT
Ashtin graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelor
of Arts in 2008 and from the University of Michigan with her Doctoral
degree in Physical Therapy in August 2011. Ashtin joined the Peak
Performance team in November 2011. Ashtin’s clinical experiences
include one outpatient rotation, one acute care rotation and one
vestibular outpatient rotation. Ashtin’s future goals are
to become a certified vestibular specialist and to become an APTA
Credential Clinical Instructor. When not treating patients, Ashtin
enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs.

Darrin
Madole, Clinic Director, DPT, MS, ATC, CSCS, Cert. MDT
Darrin’s interest in physical therapy began in 1987 following
a sports related injury that required rehabilitation. After receiving
his Bachelors of Science in Sports Medicine and his athletic training
certification from Pepperdine University he pursued and received
his Masters in Physical Therapy from U-Mass Lowell in 1993 and
eventually his Doctorate of PT from Lowell as well. Darrin enjoys
learning and continues to pursue his education having also received
a Credential in Spinal Mechanics and Diagnostics from the International
Mckenzie Spinal Institute in 1999. He also holds a certification
in Strength and Conditioning from the National Strength and Conditioning
Association. Darrin has worked at both the high school and college
level in the athletic medicine departments as well as trained and
rehabbed professional and former professional athletes in various
different sports and activities. Prior to coming to North Carolina
Darrin owned and operated Balanced Health, Inc. for 13 years. When
he is not working Darrin, his wife Brenda and their three sons
and one daughter enjoy all aspects of the beach. They also spend
too many hours weekly to count at some field, court, rink or dance
studio enjoying all the joys of youth sports and activities. You
will find his energy, empathy and quest for knowledge encouraging
and motivating.

Jerry
Ditz, DPT
Jerry attained his Doctorate of Physical
Therapy degree in May of 2010 from Gannon University (Erie,
PA) and joined Peak Performance as a physical therapist in
July of 2010. Prior to Gannon University Jerry attended Mount
Union College (Alliance, OH) where he earned a B.S. in exercise
science and was a member of the football team. During his junior
and senior football seasons his team won back to back division
III NCAA national champions. He has an interest in general
sports, cervical, and lumbar rehabilitation. Future interest
include obtaining certifications in manual therapy, becoming
an orthopedic clinical specialist, and certified strength and
conditioning specialist. When not treating patients, Jerry
enjoys watching sporting events, spending time with family,
running, biking, swimming, playing golf, fishing, and going
to the beach.

Figueroa - General Manager
With over 34 year of business experience across a wide range of
disciplines, Jay is focused on supporting all business needs at
Peak Performance as well as expanding business opportunities. A
graduate of the Georgia State University Business School with a
focus on Information Systems and a successful management career
at AT&T, Jay brings skills in business development, information
systems, sales and marketing to continuously improve the experience
at Peak Performance for both patients and physician offices

George Eggers –
Operations Manager
After a successful business career in personnel and management,
George became an enthusiastic member of the Peak Performance staff
in the position of Operations Manager. George can often be seen
in any one of our clinics ensure our administrative and clinical
staff have all the tools and knowledge necessary to provide our
patients with the best care available. Additionally, George is often
seen speaking with patients ensuring they are satisfied with their
Peak Performance experience. When not making patients feel good
about being at Peak Performance, George's attention turns to softball,
fishing and church activities. |
